Lubrication Tracking System

The SMS Group has provided a custom Lubricant Tracking System utilizing passive 13.56 MHz RFID Tag technology. The application was designed for a rugged manufacturing environment that was dirty and had a large amount of metal and fluids. The backend database is SQL Server. The handheld devices are manufactured by Datalogic.  

Application

The intuitive application asks the user to read a specific tank RFID Tag. Once the handheld device reads the tank ID the user is asked for a set of questions that include; user, type of lubricant being added, the amount being added. The device automatically records data and time. The end of day information is then uploaded via USB interface into a SQL Database. Within the Database application the system compares past lubricant adds, reports on machines that are using more lubricants than in the past, and creating an exception report that is used to indicate to the maintenance team to PM the machine.

Benefits

The customer can now utilize less lubricants, know that the machines are actually being filled with the correct lubricants, track date and time of each lubricant filling, and identify problems before a machine is down.
